If the Machine Binding feature of SafeGuard Easy is not disabled before uninstalling the Client Security Solution application subsequent boots of the computer might fail. If this occurs a machine binding verification failure error message is displayed. The Machine Binding feature of SafeGuard Easy utilizes the embedded security chip which is managed by the Client Security Solution application. Consequently the Machine Binding feature of SafeGuard Easy should be disabled before uninstalling the Client Security Solution application.
1. Click Start select Control Panel then click Add or Remove Programs. 2. Highlight the Utimaco SafeGuard Easy entry. 3. Click the Change/Remove button. 4. Select the Modify radio button. 5. Disable the Machine Binding feature and follow the directions to approve this change.
Any system running Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP configured with Client Security Solution and SafeGuard Easy
If you encounter this error complete the following procedure: 1. Shut down the computer. 2. Restart the computer and press the F8 button during the boot process. 3. Select Safe Mode from the list of options. 4. Log on to Windows using an administrator user ID. 5. Click Start then click My Computer. 6. Navigate to the C:\\\\Windows\\\\System32 directory. 7. Rename the SGTPMMB.DLL file to SGTPMMB.BAK. 8. Shut down the computer and reboot into Windows. |
